About the artist - Maureen Cahill
Experience
Maureen works equally well in both oils and watercolours and has
been conducting classes and workshops all over Ireland for twenty
years. She is renowned first and foremost for her technical expertise
and excellent teaching methods derived from the pursuit of simplicity
in both comprehension and expression.
Education/Qualifications
She studied in the National College of Art and Design in Dublin and
won the Taylor Lane Scholarship consecutively for four years. She
later studied in the Crawford College of Art and was awarded a
distinction for her Thesis on Drawing.
Awards
She has won many awards at the Royal Dublin Shows and was an R.H.A,
(Royal Hibernian Academy), exhibitor at 18 years of age. Her
demonstrations in conjunction with the MacAlise Society, of which she
is an Honorary Member, have been very successful. She has had many
one-woman exhibitions and has contributed regularly to all major
national shows.
Style
Her watercolours of flowers and still-lives have a style that is
reminiscent of a bygone era, and her semi-impressionist oils of
gardens and children have had massive appeal. She is currently working
on semi abstract pieces that are larger format, textural and lyrical
in style.
